Down Under In Mel: Queen Victoria Market

There was once, ages ago, I remember myself watching a travelogue introducing a market in Australia. I had no idea what travel program it was, neither the city nor the name of the market. But I did somehow link Victoria to it. All I had in me was how great this place was! Great ambience, fresh food, shopping, eating I promise myself to be there one day. After some research and looking at the markets in Down Under, I believe Queen Vics to be the one and from then onward,  I have always been looking forward to this day. On a bright bustling sat morning, after a short tram ride, I was finally here with the recognisable yellow facade building welcoming you.

Down Under In Mel: La Petite Creperie

Previously I have once said that Melbourne is really such a cosmopolitan with many varied groups of ethnic people besides the locals! Of course beside the people, another way to tell is definitely by the cuisine that you find on the streets. It isn’t like pasta after pasta that you see in Italy, but Chinese, Indian, Thai even for Western, you can differentiate it between French, Italian……etc. Cafe hopping is the thing to do in Melbourne, given the amount of unique and hidden cafes in this city, it is up to you to chance upon them and explore.  La Petite Creperie is one of the foodie place that I am to visit and try them out, they sell French crepe, with many unique creations, they are highly raved after. There is two location in town. One of them is just a stall selling their favourites on the corner of Swanston Street and Little Collins Street while the other is a fully sit down cafe on Hardware Lane, one of the hippest foodie place.

Down Under In Mel: Grand Hyatt Melbourne

123 Collins Street! Right in the heart of the city where the vibes are working it’s very best. Located between the quintessential Flinders Street Station and Bourke Street, with the St Paul right near it’s backyard. The location was pretty ideal. Grand Hyatt Melbourne was my home for the next 6 days. Just a little recap, previous I chanced upon one of the deals for the winter season and the rates were going for 213 AUD per night. Given that I recently status matched up to Hyatt Passport Platinum and with the Hyatt Summer Promotion I earn a total of close to 10k points. Furthermore with the Citi Prestige 4th night free, the rate was brought down to 177 AUD. For a 5 star hotel right in town, with the tram stop right in front. Things can’t be better.

Down Under In Mel: Emirates EK404 A380 SIN – MEL Economy Class

Fly Emirates! The most hip about airline in the last decade. It is also the aitline where you would have no issue seeing a crew with more than 15 to 20 nationality. To say it being internationalise or cosmopolitan, you definitely won’t go wrong here. Not withstanding the bling and glamour, Emirates is also the largest operator of A380 and the 777. My previous flight on Emirates was to Madrid back in 2013, it’s been some time, which make me keen to see how their service and products are currently. As mentioned in the previous post, the gate was only a short walk away from the Plaza Premium Lounge. But before it start, the flight is already being delay slightly. I am however keen to see how Emirates goes up against Emirates and the service differential between the both airline.

Down Under In Mel: Plaza Premium Lounge Changi Airport Terminal 1

Given the agony of missing out on the lounge to visit, seeing that I have close to another hour prior to boarding, I went in search of the Plaza Premium Lounge. It was located close to the gates in the C side of the terminal, directly above the transfer counters and right opposite the Emirates Lounge on Level 3. Two lounge prior to boarding? No sweat for a travel blogger right? Since my Priority Pass Membership provides unlimited access, no harm trying out another lounge right? Furthermore I have heard so much about this lounge, given that it the newest one in town.
